What is Liposuction

You found our introduction article about liposuction.

When you gain weight, it is quite common that fat cells also increase in size and volume. When you are looking to lose weight, it is quite difficult to get rid of these cells.

Liposuction is a very effective method to reduce fat deposits located in certain areas of the body that are difficult to treat.

Join me to learn a little more about liposuction and the incredible changes it can make in your body.

Let’s get started!

What is liposuction, and how does it work?

Liposuction is basically a surgical process in which a suction technique is applied to remove fat in specific parts of the body, such as the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, or neck and arms.

This procedure works through a cannula, which is a steel tube connected to a powerful vacuum machine. Its main function is to absorb all the fat through the tube. This procedure is performed under the effects of anesthesia, and it can last from one to three hours.

How much weight can I lose with liposuction?

The doctor in charge of the surgical procedure will determine the amount of fat to be eliminated. All this will depend on certain characteristics of the patient which have been studied prior to the operation.

But what is certain is that up to 60% of the total body fat can be eliminated. This translates to a maximum amount of 10 or 15 pounds of fat.

The most advanced liposuction techniques

Smartlipo

This is one of the most innovative techniques in body sculpting. Its objective is to gently melt all that unwanted fat in some areas of your body.

Smart liposuction is characterized as a minimally invasive process. Where a small cannula that houses a laser fiber, emits energy that instantly dissolves all excess fat deposits to facilitate the entire removal process.

360 Liposuction or Liposculpture

The 360 liposuction or as it is also known, liposculpture,  is a very innovative surgical process in which the figure is sculpted through the extraction of subcutaneous fat in all those areas that require it.

This procedure differs from traditional liposuction since much more advanced techniques are used. The main purpose is to achieve greater precision in the body remodeling according to the patient’s requirements.

Laser liposuction

Laser liposuction is a non-invasive procedure. It stimulates the release of fat deposits without destroying or altering the adipose tissue.

All the stimulated adipose tissue is released in cellular content into the interstitial space, to be drained and metabolized naturally by the body.

What care should I take after liposuction?

  • It is necessary to wear a postoperative girdle for at least four weeks.
  • For at least two weeks, avoid excessive heat.
  • Perform your lymphatic drainage correctly, these are of vital importance to have a really successful result.

It is important to keep in mind that liposuction is not considered a method or alternative for weight loss. The best way to lose weight is through dieting, exercise, or a bariatric procedure.
